Kitchen Floors

Thought I'd post a pic of the new floors going down in the kitchen. I've always wanted terra cotta tiles and can't wait to see how this all turns out. So far it looks really nice. The walls have the first coat of paint but they'll need a second. This weekend it looks like I'll be painting, again. Next week I should be able to get some appliances, so I can cook some real food for a change - can't wait.

Love it! I think you'll be very happy with the tiles. Be sure to seal the grout though to keep spills from staining.

Good idea about the sealing. I hadn't thought of the grout. The tiles are glazed porcelain, so they're fairly impermeable, but the grout is a different story. Thanks!

Nice job! Yes, a good idea to seal the grout. Looks like the same terra cotta tile I put in my kitchen. I'm so happy you are finally getting to use some of your new house!

I wish I could take credit for how nice they look, but that belongs to Eric Hartwell. He's doing a great job and they look wonderful. For anyone who needs construction/remodeling work in the Kingston, AR area, Hartwell Construction is who I'd recommend.

Flowerweaver, is your kitchen floor still doing good? I had a lot of conflicting advice as to whether I should use tile or not. The house is off the ground so it might crack one day. But I love the look of it so much, I don't really care if it cracks.

'looking good Roxanne. You asked sage's opinion about tiled floor. I tiled my entire house 10 or 12 years ago.

I would not use tile today, but that is a prefernce of age and comfort. I enjoy walking and standing on softer, rather than harder, surfaces.

Today, I would do the house with a softer material. But, it is personal prefernce, and your tile floor looks great. .....bob

Hi Bob, I understand your sentiment. But yesterday when I came in from outside it was soooo hot and the tile floors were soooo cool! I laid down on them and just rested there and it felt almost as good as Bobbie Sue (the dog) must feel when she lays in the creek to cool off, lol.
